4. How to release our own backs

Please do not try this session if you have acute back pain and/or any neurological symptoms like pins and needles, numbness or muscle weakness. Also be aware of new bladder and bowel control issues as they are all signs of acute disc pain and could be easily flared up.  Try this gently to begin as it will be new to a lot of you, check you have no reaction and get the body used to being released before doing too much.

With all this release work little and often is best allowing the tissue to creep into new range and it’s more likely then to adapt and stay there. It’s really beneficial to have a good stretch after foam rolling to maximise the benefits. It’s great for relieving aches and pains, preventing long term injuries and allowing the body to adopt the correct postures.
