When it comes to our bodies many people focus on how they look and from that a wish to stay the same or change. When trying to change we then often focus on weight loss/gain, how fat/thin we think we are and should we have more muscle. Weight loss or gain may be important but of greater importance is the relative proportions of muscle, fat (different types of fat), water and bone. Losing weight through loss of muscle or body water is not as helpful as losing weight through losing body fat. Gaining weight through increased muscle mass will often be better than gaining weight through increased fat mass...although that may be important if you are under-fat.
